Our story begins in 1971 when McCAM Insurance Brokers Limited was formed, however our origins begin with McMurtry Insurance founded in 1913. These deep local roots have resulted in our firm becoming a major influence in the marketing of general insurance, and one of the largest general insurance brokerages in the Oshawa area.

In 1978, Colin McIntosh joined McCAM. In 1991 he became President. Colin believed that the company should focus on what we do best, insurance. While other brokers experimented with mutual funds and investments McCAM continued to focus on it’s core business believing that you should to be great at one thing, rather than than mediocre at many.
Under his leadership McCAM modernized by adopting computerized systems and fostering innovation to create a more streamlined process.
In 2010, Colin’s son Rorie McIntosh succeeded him and became President. With a passion for the industry Rorie has expanded the brokerage offering new commercial insurance services while continuing to develop close relationships with clients so that we truly understand their needs. Under Rorie’s leadership, McCAM’s new environmental initiative promotes practices such as downloading, scanning, and e-mail to help reduce paper use, save costs and preserve our environment.
McCAM Insurance is a member of the Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO), and belongs to the Registered Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (RIBO). We believe professionalism and education are important part of our job, and belonging to these organizations makes insurance brokers more effective and accountable when helping clients with their insurance needs.
